WINSOR & NEWTON PROFESSIONAL ACRYLIC MEDIUM CLEAR GESSO PRIMER NO. 130

It is important to prepare the surface of your painting with a gesso primer base, this ensures a stable and sealed surface as well as adding grip. It is important to use a good quality primer base for good quality colours as the longevity of the painting depends on all the constituent parts.

CLEAR GESSO

This gesso is made of a transparent, unpigmented resin which provides excellent grip but becomes transparent as it dries. Therefore, it does not change the original appearance of your background. If you want to start your work with a coloured background, you can make your own tinted gesso primer by adding acrylic colours.

We recommend using 1 part Artists' Acrylic paint with 4 parts Clear Gesso. Opaque colours will give a better result.

It dries quickly and provides balanced absorption.

When dry the support becomes flexible, suitable for acrylic, oil and alkyd paints.

It is also suitable for preparing the surface for pastel or charcoal.
