SPECTRAFIX DEGAS FIXATIVE

Degas Fixative in spray format.

Composed of casein, water and alcohol. This formula is based on an old recipe of the painter Edgar Degas to seal and protect his paintings.

Fast drying. The finish is matt transparent. Once dry it is water resistant and can be re-worked over.

No fumes or toxic odours. Perfect for artists sensitive to chemicals.

It can be applied on all types of paper, primed or unprimed canvas, wood, glass, unglazed ceramic, stone or leather.

For techniques such as oil pastel, dry pastel, charcoal, watercolour, chalk, gouache, casein, encaustic medium or under oil or acrylic paints in order not to lose the underlying drawing.

Casein permanently adheres to the layer covering the oil paint like egg tempera and has been used for centuries to make grisaille or coloured underpaints that can then be glazed with oil.

Degas Fixative is not recommended as a top coat for acrylics or oils. It is not a varnish.
