SPECTRAFIX DEGAS FIXATIVE REFILL BOTTLE

Refill bottle for refilling the Degas fixative spray or aerosol.

The fixative is composed of casein, water and alcohol. This formula is based on an old recipe of the painter Edgar Degas for sealing and protecting his paintings.

Fast drying. The finish is matt transparent. Once dry it is water resistant and reworkable.

No toxic fumes or odours. Ideal for people sensitive to chemicals.

Application: on all types of paper, primed or unprimed canvas, wood, glass, unglazed ceramics, stone or leather.

It is mainly used for dry techniques such as pastel, graphite or charcoal in which the layers of work can be fixed without losing the original colour, or wet techniques such as watercolour or gouache. If it is applied under oil or acrylic paints, it is possible not to lose the basic drawing and to smudge it.

The casein adheres permanently to the layer covering the oil paint in the same way as egg tempera does.

Degas Fixative is not a finishing varnish and is therefore not recommended as a final coat for acrylics or oils.
