R&F ENCAUSTIC PAINT CHROMATIC TONES SET OF 6 X 40 ML CAKES

Chromatic Tones encaustic paint set by R&F with 6 cakes of 40 ml.

Soft colours: Brilliant Yellow Extra Pale, Celadon Green, Cerulean Grey, Green Gold Pale, Scarlet Extra Pale and Ultramarine Blue Pale.

Paint made by hand with natural waxes (bee or plant-derived), pigment and resin.

The beeswax is waterproof and ensures the durability of the work.

The word encaustic comes from the Greek word enkaiein, meaning to burn, in reference to the process of melting paint.

Encaustic paint can be polished, carved, scraped, layered, coloured, dipped, moulded, modelled, sculpted, textured and combined with traditional oils.

It cools quickly and does not yellow or darken.

Recommendations for use:

You will need a level work surface or table on which to place the heated palette and heat gun. Make sure that your work area has adequate ventilation. It is recommended to have a burn kit and a fire extinguisher on hand for safety reasons.

Important tools and equipment for the home workshop include the following items: a heated palette with temperature controls for mixing encaustic paint and medium, a palette surface thermometer to help you keep the palette temperature within a safe range (180-200 ºF), fusing tools that allow you to melt (or reheat) each coat to make sure it adheres to the support, natural bristle brushes for painting (don't use synthetics because they melt), an assortment of marking tools for etching and drawing, a selection of stiff, absorbent, heat-resistant media, soy wax for cleaning, and palette cups to keep melted waxes separate.
