GOLDEN GAC 900 ACRYLIC MEDIUM - HEAT-SETTING FOR FABRICS

Golden GAC 900 heat-set acrylic fabric medium is a liquid medium that is mixed with acrylic paints to create paints that can be applied to fabrics, textiles and garments that need to withstand repeated washing cycles.

You can start with a 1:1 mixing ratio of paint and Golden GAC 900 and adjust as necessary to modify the consistency according to the type of application and surface you wish to paint.

You can increase the amount of Golden GAC 900 used in the mixture to improve softness to the touch. For example, when working with delicate fabrics.

Drying time between 1 and 4 hours.

Once dry, you can apply heat to the paint to fix it to the fabric. This is necessary for the GAC 900 to fuse with the fabric and improve the feel, softness and, above all, the garment's resistance to multiple washes.

- Machines, temperatures, and times for applying heat:

The temperature and duration of heat affect the permanence of the paints on the garment during repeated wash and dry cycles.

Higher temperatures set more quickly, but lower temperatures may be required with certain fabrics.

Residential clothes dryers can dry at a high temperature (135ºF/57ºC) for approximately 40 minutes.

Laundromat (commercial) clothes dryers can dry at a high temperature (176ºF/80ºC) for approximately 20 minutes.

Clothes irons can dry at a high temperature (440ºF/226ºC) for a few seconds.

Heat presses can be set to a high temperature (390ºF/198ºC) and pressed for approximately 10 minutes.

- Please note: These temperatures may vary according to the machine. Always check that the paint and fabric do not burn upon superior or prolonged exposure to heat.

This medium allows the artist to combine spraying, staining, brush or pen application and other techniques.
