DANIEL SMITH WALNUT INK FOR DRAWING AND CALLIGRAPHY

Daniel Smith walnut ink can be used with pens and brushes. It is water-based, made with pigments extracted from walnut shells and is rich and finely pigmented, lightfast, non-acidic, transparent and low-staining.

It has a dense sepia colour and can be used to give a warm tone to a drawing, illustration or calligraphy text as it is suitable for all types of drawing styles and works perfectly with both pen and brush.

It is also very similar to traditional walnut-based inks, but unlike these, it does not fade, stain hands or fade over time.

The result is an ink that, when applied with a brush, can be easily overlaid in several layers on paper and handles like a transparent watercolour, with good layering and lifting capabilities in darker washes.

When used with calligraphy pens it gives a beautiful, transparent and warm tone to the letters.

Daniel Smith Walnut ink is wonderful for adding warmth and historical character when painting over sketches done in permanent black ink and is itself reminiscent of the aged ink drawings of Rembrandt and Da Vinci.
