BLACKWING VOLUME 746 PENCIL

Blackwing Volume 746 pencil with 2B hardness Japanese graphite. Hexagonal barrel with an iconic orange colour in homage to the Golden Gate.

Made of easy-to-sharpen incense cedar wood.

In the summer of 1929, Joseph B. Strauss was hired to build a bridge over the choppy waters of the Golden Gate Strait. He and his team of engineers, designers and planners used pencil and paper to develop the sketches and plans that would become the Golden Gate Bridge.

Opened on 27 May 1937, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time and featured innovative engineering techniques to withstand hurricane-force winds, raging ocean currents and the rumblings of the San Andreas fault.

This pencil pays homage to this wonderful bridge.
